Celebrating the 48th Anniversary of Apollo 11

July 20, 2017

Today marks the 48th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing—one of the most remarkable milestones in human history and an incredible testament the spirit of exploration and scientific advancement. At Spacelabs, we feel a special connection to this event. After all, when Neil Armstrong first set foot on the moon, he did so wearing Spacelabs wireless vital signs monitoring. The moonwalk in 1969 represented the culmination of more than 10 years of groundbreaking innovations in medical telemetry that Spacelabs developed for the U.S. Space Program. So here’s to the Apollo 11 crew—Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin—and to all the scientists at NASA and Spacelabs who made the lunar landing possible. Today, the medical telemetry Spacelabs first developed for the space program is used by hospitals and care facilities around the world to watch over millions of patients every day. We started back in 1958 with a vision to redefine the possibilities of physiological monitoring, and we are committed to continue expanding the frontiers of medical technology, giving healthcare providers confidence and peace of mind to achieve the best clinical and economic outcomes.
