Snoqualmie, Wash. — Statcorp Medical, a division of Spacelabs Healthcare, today announced the release of its new blood pressure cuff line, CurveTM. Designed specifically for large conical arms, these uniquely shaped cuffs provide a better fit than traditional cylindrical cuffs and a more accurate blood pressure reading on bariatric patients.
Taking blood pressure with a traditional cuff on a conical arm poses several challenges that can alter the reading, including gapping near the elbow and sliding down as the cuff expands.
According to a recent study in The Journal of Hypertension, 15 percent of participants found hypertensive when assessed with a traditional cuff were within a healthy blood pressure range when using the conical cuff. The Statcorp Medical CurveTM line is the only complete line of cuffs on the market designed to properly fit bariatric patients and stay in the proper position, thus providing a more accurate reading.
“Taking blood pressure on larger arms can now be achieved reliably,” said Spacelabs President Nicholas Ong. “The Curve TM blood pressure cuffs are simple to use and give healthcare providers accurate readings, allowing them to make an informed decision for their patients.”
Check out the complete CurveTM line of disposable and reusable cuffs at the American Society of Bariatric Physicians event March 13-14, booth 42.
